Chain saws are widely used garden machinery in mechanized logging operations in forest areas of China, and their engines are also known as internal combustion engines or gasoline engines. It is the main part of a chainsaw, used to generate power and drive the sawing mechanism through a transmission mechanism to cut wood. The chainsaw engine is different from the commonly used engines on tractors. The chainsaw is a two-stroke engine, which has twice the power of a four stroke engine.
1. After the engine is ignited, sometimes detonation occurs, which is an abnormal combustion.
When the engine detonates, the flame combustion speed is particularly fast, reaching 2000-3000 meters per second, while the normal flame combustion speed is 20-40 meters per second. Therefore, the temperature of the engine significantly increases, and the pressure of the cylinders also increases significantly. The characteristics of detonation are the sound of metal tapping in the cylinder, unstable engine operation, overheating, decreased power, and black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. Due to engine detonation, its economy deteriorates, lubricating oil deteriorates, and even loses its lubrication performance, resulting in increased bearing wear. Therefore, the phenomenon of deflagration is not allowed. The main reason for engine detonation is due to poor fuel quality or improper combination of fuel grade and engine compression ratio. In addition, it is also related to the temperature of the engine itself, the position of the spark plug, the form of the combustion chamber, and the size of the advance ignition angle. Also, carbon deposits can cause ignition and deflagration. After detonation occurs, immediately close the throttle valve (throttle), identify the cause, and eliminate it.
2. Advance ignition
Early ignition means that the combustible mixture inside the cylinder burns on its own without waiting for ignition. The reason for early ignition is that during the compression process, the temperature inside the cylinder has reached the temperature of fuel self ignition, so it does not need to be ignited and burns on its own. When early ignition occurs, the engine overheats, producing a lot of various carbons, and the engine operates unevenly.
By analyzing and understanding two issues in the combustion process of the engine, we can better understand the performance of the chainsaw.
